The jellyfish and the snail

Work description and interpretation
The books originates from a story I found in a scientific journal: The Gulf of Naples is home to one of the most fascinating cases of parasitic symbiosis we know: the jellyfish and the sea snail. The snail hosts as a parasite a small fragment of the jellyfish, which is attached close to its mouth. However, the fragment is capable of reproducing and, after a while, new jellyfish are born and grow in the gulf. When the snail’s larvae are born, the new jellyfish envelop them with their tentacles, pushing them into their bodies. However, the larvae are not digested by the jellyfish and begin to develop and to devour the jellyfish until the circle closes with an adult snail, which carries a fragment of the jellyfish close to its oral aperture.
